John Kruk, former Major League Baseball Player, was smoking a cigarette on his way to his car after a baseball game when a woman (who was waiting with her son for an autograph) said to him, “You shouldn’t be smoking, you’re an athlete.” John replied, “Lady, I’m not an athlete, I’m a baseball player.”
Likewise, I’ve been called lots of things I’m not. My wife says I’m a “web coder.” In the work world, I have been called many things, “web developer, software engineer, application architect.” But actually, I’m a husband, father and life-long technologist.
I’ve been interested in technology and gadgets since my childhood days of watching Inspector Gadget. I like to take things apart and put them back together – there’s no better way to learn something than to dissect it. While I used to work primarily in the Microsoft realm, I have ventured into the open-source community over the past 5 years with WordPress, Ruby on Rails, PHP, Node.js. Currently, my work involves pushing the limits of WordPress and developing various apps and APIs with what has become my favorite framework, Laravel.
I left the corporate world in 2010 to go full-time with Saint Systems and BuilderZen.
